We Have Decided To Try A Private Arrangement – Case 61

This is case study number 61

This is Nikki’s Story:

Nikki – Tell us about what is going on with your situation?

I am the mother of 3 boys, one has left home, but had lived with my ex from around 11 yrs his choice and as hard as it was I agreed to it.

I brought up our other child and received child support for this child but not once did I pay for the other child. My partner and I have then had our youngest.

With this new scheme my ex’s child support doubled and for some weird reason my living allowance included the child I have to my partner, who can afford to support him.

Because my ex’s new partner has a family too, we have decided to try a private arrangement that we believe is a good amount, but still believe the new system needs to change.

.

How much did you receive on the old formula?

$349

On the NEW formula what will that amount be per month?

$794

Are you happy with the new formula?

No

What are your main reasons for being not happy with it?

Unhappy because the new system is going to cause more pain and stress for all.

If child support was a set amount per child split between both parents for the basic necessities, what do you think is a fair amount per month per child?

$700

What else would you like to say?

If you paying parents have new families check that WFT is in your name as I think that is the only way to show you have children.
